The New Remote Pilot Pathway
The ideal starting place for new pilots
Step 1
Preparation
This course comprises a level 2 Low Airspace Awareness course combined with a day of flight training with one of our qualified Drone Flight Instructors.
At the end of this step you will have the qualifications to fly sub 250g drones over and around people (sub category A1), and under 25kg far away from people; a minimum of 150m away from buildings (sub category A3).
You will also have completed the required ‘building blocks’ described by the CAA for undertaking A2 Certificate of Competency Training (A2 CofC)

Step 2
Open & Specific
Using the ‘building blocks’ from Step 1 you can increase your knowledge, skills, and qualifications by progressing to our online Open Category A2 CofC course, which provides the necessary qualification to fly under 2kg drones in urban areas.
Alternatively, you can combine this with our General Visual Line of Sight (GVC) course. This course has approximately 20 hours of self-paced, online pre-learning, followed by 2 days of online/ in-person ground school, and culminates in practical flying skills tests. This is the minimum qualification required to fly medium risk operations and permits flight of drones under 25kg in any circumstances authorised by the CAA following a risk assessment process.
- A2 CofC permitting sub 2kg flight in urban areas
- GVC permitting flights in Specific Category up to 25kg
Step 3

Combine your Drone Qualifications with our industry specific vocational courses to equip yourself with the tools to enjoy a career in remote piloting.
Our Operating Drones In a Security Environment™ (soon to be level 4 diploma) combines our Highfield approved training centre status to train Security Industry Association courses with our CAA Recognised Entity status to equip students with both an SIA badge and qualifications to fly the drone. This is followed by custom 2 days of flight training tailored to use of drones in security settings such as perimeter patrol, area search, night flying, and much more.
